ice axe

That indispensable tool of mountaineer, glacier traveler, and snowfield crosser alike, is essential for safe travel in the high moutnains.

My ice-axe is a nontechnical mountaineering type of axe by the Black Diamond. This is a very versatile type of axe, which gives a good balance of performance for walking, useful for cutting steps and hacking out belay stances, and in the worst case scenario, to stop an out-of-control slide.  It is ideal for general mountaineering and for ’scramble’ type winter terrain, which is exactly what I’ve been doing.

i am content with a few thistles

“He that has a good harvest must be content with a few thistles.”

This year will be a good year, but one can only expect a few thistles on the way.

My career in moving in the right direction.. for now, no glitches there. And if you ask me about the ‘personal life’.. well, the sun has been shining and it became a beautiful red rose.

Sewer Cover Art?

Sewer Hatch @ Broadway West, Vancouver

Is this one of the nice sides of the West Broadway Street Rehabilitation and Transportation Improvements?

”You shall have a place outside the camp and you shall go out to it; and you shall have a stick with your weapons; and when you sit down outside, you shall dig a hole with it, and turn back and cover up your excrement.”
     Deuteronomy 23:12

Happy New 2008!

For the first time in my life I celebrated new Year’s Eve up in the mountains, ‘buried’ under few feet of snow, inside the snow-cave that me and my friends build together.. We snow shoed up to the Elfin Lakes shelter in the Garibaldi Provincial Park, BC.. the magic of snow and mountains surrounded us with their beauty..

I know that this year will be magical, it has already started..

2007 EA Christmas Party @ Vancouver Aquarium

We did not swim with the fishes.. but it sure felt good to be there, almost like a fish in clear water.. Vancouver Aquarium, 2500 dressed up people, live bands, lights, lots yummy food, and some great party friends!

Portrait Photography

Tiffany Aspinall

A face brimming with happiness and grace, or a face that is hard, hateful… a successful face… a smiling face.. photographing faces brings you up close and personal to the person you are taking photo of.

Face-to-face interaction, or should I say face-to-camera interaction, can bring many different, sometimes quite surprising, revealing personalities reactions from the subject you are about to photograph. And if I don’t have a studio or a big open space with diffuse light and a neutral background, well.. then, I ‘steal’ a location, for a very down-to-earth final photo. My work has never been shot in a studio, and with that, an end result is a natural and tranquil photo that was shot in a natural setting.

snow paradise

Two beautiful days of snow in Vancouver. That was some awesome awesome weather!!!

my future tattoo

This is a drawing that represents ‘Raven’ I did while back, and it is going to be my tattoo in the near future.

According to the West Coast native symbols & meanings ‘Raven’ is the trickster and the transformer. The Raven is the symbol of knowledge and wisdom, the most important creature who can make anything happen.

When I drew this, it was suppose to be a doodle for this psychology project. My drawing/doodle was to represent who I am and who want to be. Who knew?

waiting

Patience is waiting. Not passively waiting. That is laziness. But to keep going when the going is hard and slow - that is patience.

When it comes to Vancouver’s local mountains I am a big buff of fluff on Mount Seymour. You can ski, snow board, snow blade, cross country ski, snowshoe, snow tube and toboggan, or just plain roll in the snow.. like we did, last Sunday.

what’s in my bag?

Fruit and vegetables revitalize my body and they are delightfully delicious. Therefore, I savour them. You are what you eat, right?
